The origins of KLING-MALZ and its respected position in the Rhein-Neckar region can be traced back to Peter Kling. This family ancestor, long before 1850, labored as a farmer, a vinegar and liquor distiller and a yeast producer. He was the inspiration for the founding of a malt plant by his son Heinrich.

A new steam engine is purchased

Production and distribution are extended
1910
Jakob Heinrich Kling, son of the founder, joins the company as authorized signatory
1920
Product delivery method is changed from horse-drawn wagons to trucks
1932
A production site in Edingen is founded
1934
Heinrich Kling dies. His son, Jakob Heinrich Kling, takes over his father's business
1935
The company changes legally to KG
1949
The company obtains a patent for a malting process which insures an improvement in the quality of the malt produced
1950-1960
The production plants are modernized. Several silos and a harbor in Edingen are built
1960
Jakob Heinrich Kling dies
1964
Heinrich Georg Kling, Jakob's son, joins the company
1988
The Schriesheim plant begins using double floored kilns
1989
The Schriesheim plant begins using a second germination box
1999
The company changes legally from a KG to a GmbH & Co. KG
1999
Two new steeping tanks are added to the Schriesheim plant
2001
Kling-Malz joins Rhein-Main-Malz
2005
Opening of the rebuilt dock in Edingen
